What we keep, and what we don’t
Knowviq is a search box. A query is sent to the sources that are actually available, then optionally scored. We do not show ads, and we do not build a profile of you.
Search results may be cached briefly so the same query does not hit sources twice. Rate limits use the connecting address to protect the service. Follow-up limits count how many questions you ask on a search, using that address and the query — not a profile. We do not sell query logs.
Location is only used when a search mentions it (for example “near me”), and only with your browser’s permission. Your coordinates are turned into a place name for that one search and are never logged or saved. Place names come from OpenStreetMap Nominatim (© OpenStreetMap contributors).
Photo searches: your browser shrinks the photo and strips its metadata before upload. The photo is sent only to Cloudflare Workers AI to identify what it shows, used once, and never stored or logged. Knowviq never identifies people from their face or body; if a person is the main subject, we say so and stop. If the photo has GPS data, that location is used only to look up a nearby place name and is never saved. We keep just a daily count of identified photos (by a hashed address and a random cookie, or your Pro account) to enforce the daily limit; photos we can't identify don't count.
Scoring, when it runs, sends the query and result snippets to TypeSafe Jev System One. If scoring is off, nothing is invented to replace it — rows stay Not yet scored.
Payments for Knowviq Pro are processed by Stripe. We never see or store card details; we store only your email and subscription status, plus a count of Pro follow-ups for the fair-use limit.
